The Best Mouse in 2018 Anyone spending hours on their computer every day will tell you that having the right tools at hand is serious business. Deciding on the best mouse is a subjective process where several things come into play: intended use, feature set, grip style, price, and how comfortable a given device feels in your hand. Over the years we've tested some of the best mice on the market, but to come up with this list we combined our staff's collective experience with hundreds of reviews and users' feedback. Mice is a category where productivity and gaming do combine, meaning the best gaming mice are usually the most comfortable to work long sessions as well, thus making it the best overall peripheral. Plus, you probably don't juggle between mice depending on what you're doing, unless you need a ton of buttons for MMOs, or something of that nature. Here are our top picks.

TCS conducts online test to hire engineering graduates; move aimed at covering larger talent base While TCS is moving toward a digitised process of hiring, the company is not ending the campus recruitment process, says the company. IT services bellwether, TCS, will focus more on online tests to recruit fresh engineering graduates. The move could be of great significance for students who would otherwise have been deprived of campus placements because of their colleges. According to a report in The Times of India, TCS held an all-India online test - called the National Qualifier Test. The Bengaluru-headquartered firm is following it up with video interview, or a face-to face interview, depending on applicant's location. "While TCS is moving toward a digitised process of hiring, the company is not ending the campus recruitment process," the company said in a statement. The online recruitments will enable the IT firm to reach out to a far larger tal

Titan gains 3% as gold escapes import duty hike  NEW DELHI: Shares of Titan Company gained more than 3 per cent on Thursday as the government did not raise import duty on gold from the existing 10 per cent, contrary to speculations.  The government has instead raised import duty to 20 per cent from 15 per cent on jewellery and to 7.5 per cent from 5 per cent on cut and polished diamonds, which is unlikely to affect the company.  The stock jumped 3.27 per cent to hit a high of Rs 838.75 on the BSE early today.  Bhaskar Bhat, MD, Titan, said: "Large part of its imports is gold, where the import duty has not been touched. It is a wise move by the government as it will garner more taxes, given the weak CAD position. As of now, the marginal increase in import duty is not going to affect the industry much.”  In terms of total value to the entire business, this is not such a significant part of Titan’s business at least. A large part of the Indian jewellery sale is plain gold

Telecom firms are back to square one  The Supreme Court order disallowing telecom operators from using Aadhaar for verification will prolong the time taken to get mobile phone connections and could increase customer acquisition costs by as much as 10 times.  “With enrolment via Aadhaar, we took 30 minutes to get a customer on board and now one will have to wait for 5-6 days for our officers to go to their addresses and verify their details. It seems like we have gone back in time and now enrolment will happen slowly, like th e earlier times,” said a senior executive of a private telco.   The apex court’s verdict curbing the use of the unique identity number will also add financial pressure on the industry, which is reeling under debt of more than Rs 7 lakh crore amid competition that is eroding revenue and profitability.  The cost of enrolling a new customer with Aadhaar is about Rs 30, according to another senior telecom company executive. Now, with verification going back to ol

Google looking to future after 20 years of search  Google celebrated its 20th birthday Monday, marking two decades in which it has grown from simply a better way to explore the internet to a search engine so woven into daily life its name has become a verb.  The company was set to mark its 20th anniversary with an event in San Francisco devoted to the future of online search, promising a few surprise announcements.  Larry Page and Sergey Brin were students at Stanford University -- known for its location near Silicon Valley The duo went beyond simply counting the number of times keywords were used, developing software that took into account factors such as relationships between webpages to help determine where they should rank in search results.  Google was launched in September 1998 in a garage rented in the Northern California city of Menlo Park. The name is a play on the mathematical term "googol," which refers to the number 1 followed by 100 zeros.  Google reported

Health and Human Services’ Quest to Becoming a Data-Driven Organization A new report shows HHS still faces technical, legal and cultural barriers to seamless, internal data sharing. The Health and Human Services Department plans to implement an enterprise wide data strategy to overcome its ultimate challenge: a lack of consistent and standard protocols for interagency data sharing. But that’s not the department’s only barrier, according to a recent  report  on the state of data sharing at HHS. A team led by Mona Siddiqui, its chief data officer, interviewed agency leadership from 11 HHS agencies about the challenges of data sharing, focusing on high value, restricted and nonpublic datasets. Because, in order for HHS to become a data-driven department, it needs a cohesive data governance structure, a platform open to data sharing and policy designed around evidence. Plus, there’s potential for machine learning and artificial intelligence to solve complex health chall

Samsung Galaxy Phone With 4 Cameras Expected to Be Launched on October 11 Samsung has now announced a new Galaxy event on October 11, and a new Galaxy smartphone is expected to launch with as many as four cameras. Tipsters indicatethat the four cameras are not inclusive of two cameras in the front and two cameras at the back, but that there will be as many as four cameras at the rear end of the smartphone. There is no word on what this smartphone will be, and Samsung doing an event in October is out of tradition as well. However, a past leak seems to assert that the new smartphone won't be the new Galaxy 'F' series, nor will it be the Galaxy S10. Samsung Mobile has published a tweet with the words, '4x fun', and confirms an event on October 11. The smartphone company has even announced that the event will be live streamed on the Samsung website. This is in line with what tipster Ice Universe suggested a week ago. He suggested that Samsung is set to launch a

Machine learning algorithms offer better data analysis at CERN AI to enhance data analysis for the world's most powerful particle collider Scientists say they have created new techniques that deploy machine learning to significantly improve data analysis for the Large Hadron Collider (LHC), the world's most powerful particle accelerator. "The methods we developed greatly enhance our discovery potential for new physics at the LHC," said Kyle Cranmer, a professor at the New York University (NYU) in the US. Located at the CERN laboratory near Geneva, Switzerland, the LHC is probing a new frontier in high-energy physics. The facility may reveal the origin of mass of fundamental particles, the source of the illusive dark matter that fills the universe, and even extra dimensions of space, researchers said. In 2012, data collected by the LHC backed the existence of the Higgs boson, a sub-atomic particle that plays a key role in our understanding

APPLE'S LATEST IPHONES ARE PACKED WITH AI -SMART The three new iPhones unveiled next to Apple’s glassy circular headquarters Wednesday look much like last year’s iPhone X. Inside, the devices’ computational guts got an invisible but more significant upgrade. Apple’s phones come with new chip technology with a focus on helping the devices understand the world around them using artificial intelligence algorithms. The company says the improvements allow the new devices to offer slicker camera effects and augmented reality experiences. For the first time, non-Apple developers will be allowed to run their own algorithms on Apple’s AI-specific hardware. That could enliven the iTunes app store with rich new experiences for socializing, creating art, or getting things done. Machine learning algorithms can help apps to understand and respond to what’s happening in photos and video, for example. Combined with Apple’s support for augmented reality, more AI oomph could help your i
